OK, let's be honest - the speaking exam is a bit daunting! In fact, as you will find out soon enough, it feels a lot like a driving test.... However, with careful and thorough preparation and a positive attitude on the day, it is a real opportunity to sparkle! Pupils often leave the room saying "Is that it?" or even "I really enjoyed that!" More than any other exam, it is your chance to show off everything you know. The speaking exam usually consists of a rôle-play, a presentation and a general conversation. It lasts between 10 and 15 minutes, is usually conducted by your German teacher and is recorded onto tape.
