In the case of the Turin Shroud, which mysteriously has the image of a man visible in it, carbon-14 dating seems to indicate that it is not 2,000 years old, and is considered a fake by many. The Dead Sea Scrolls, on the other hand, have proven to be about 2,000 years old, and so were written at the time that Jesus was alive. The Hebrew writings themselves have proved more contentious!
